People invited to question cancer experts
DOCTORS from Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster are inviting people to put their cancer questions to the experts.
Four health professionals will attend a free event on Tuesday, November 12 at the Summervale Medical Centre in Ilminster, for members of the public to ask questions.
Dr Amelia Randle, a GP and Cancer Lead with Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group, said: "We hope as many people as possible come along to the Summervale Surgery in Ilminster ask their questions about cancer.
"Few people realise that cancer is not one disease – there are more than 200 different types, each with its own symptoms, methods of diagnosis and treatment.

"We want people to understand that many cancers are preventable. Local screening programmes are now detecting cancers of the bowel, breast and cervix very much sooner and we have just seen the re-launch of the kidney/bladder cancer campaign again.
"A diagnosis of cancer is not a death sentence and the treatments and their outcomes continue to improve year on year. The forthcoming evening promises to be an engaging and informative evening answering your questions on cancer."
