Pensioner knocked out for two days thanks neighbours for rescue
A Cheddar pensioner is saying a big thank you to his neighbours for rescuing him after being knocked out for two days.
Widower John Davis, 85, of Greenhayes, says after nine months of recovery he is on the mend after banging his head in the bathroom, leaving him out cold for 48 hours. When neighbours Margot Price and Tania Macey noticed he had not put his recycling bins out, they entered his home and called the ambulance.

The accident happened at the end of January and it is only now Mr Davis is getting about more with the aid of a stick. He wanted to thank his good friends in a suitable way and so he was pointed to the Cheddar Valley Gazette. And we thought what better way to reward the two ladies than to make their actions known.
Mr Davis said: “Not only did they find me, for the last couple of months I could not get out and they did shopping for me and took me to hospital appointments.

“It was a running thing until my leg started to heal.”
The mobility problem sprang from medication Mr Davis had to take, which caused a growth to grow on his leg.
The pensioner had been doing some work in his home office and went into the bathroom on January 29. Next thing he knew it was January 31 and he was being wheeled into an ambulance.
What caused the accident is unknown but Mr Davis has been prone to dizziness for 30-odd years due to an artery on the back of his neck.
He hopes news of his heroic neighbours will encourage others to keep an eye on elderly or vulnerable neighbours.
