Pensford 10k race saved after new committee formed
The future of the Pensford 10k has been assured after a new organising committee was formed to take the race on.
There had been fears that this April's race – which celebrated the popular event's 25th anniversary – could have been the last after long-standing committee members decided to step down.
There was a shortage of people to take over at the time but such was the subsequent interest in keeping the challenging race going that a new committee was able to be appointed at last week's annual general meeting.
New chairman Roger Stephenson, said: "Thanks to an injection of enthusiastic young talent, the committee is continuing and staging the event on April 28, 2013.
"We are hoping for kinder weather and that there will be a fun run."
