Paulton celebrates Olympic legacy with completion of eco-friendly swimming pool
Paulton villagers are celebrating their own Olympic legacy with the completion of an environmentally-friendly swimming pool refurbishment
The work has been carried out thanks to a £50,000 grant award from Sport England and National Lottery through the Olympic Legacy Fund.
The money has been used to install solar and thermal panels, replace all the doors and windows with modern efficient units and to install green LED lighting, all of which will significantly reduce the operating costs for the not-for-profit charity operation.
The pool was built in 1975 and faced closure just three years ago, but a new management team secured vital funds and local support to save it.
The Olympic legacy funding will allow Paulton Pool to continue to offer an extensive timetable seven days a week.
Chairman of Paulton Pool management committee, Garry Yoxall has been delighted with the award.
He said: "By lowering emissions we have reduced our costs which will allow us to continue to offer an exciting and affordable programme."
