Former Paulton Rovers player Ashley Barnes charged by FA after apparent referee trip
Former Paulton Rovers player Ashley Barnes has been charged by the Football Association after being accused of tripping up a referee.
Barnes, from Dunkerton, was playing for Brighton and Hove Albion against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, March 9, when the alleged incident happened.
A statement on the FA's website today said:
"It is alleged that Barnes’s behaviour in relation to the match official, for which the player was dismissed for violent conduct towards the end of the game, constituted an offence whereby the standard punishment that would otherwise apply was clearly insufficient.
