Paul Retallick murder trial: Former partner tells court her family were 'terrorised'

The former partner of a Yeovil-born man who was found dead in Langport last year said he "terrorised" her family prior to his death.

Heidi McGinty, 26, of Ilminster, told Bristol Crown Court today that Paul Retallick, 35, sent her family threatening messages which scared her.

Mr Retallick, formerly of Barwick, near Yeovil, was found dead at Miss McGinty's former home in Iris Way, Langport, on Sunday, September 16, last year.

Miss McGinty's father Michael Frank McGinty, 55, and her brother Lee McGinty, 25, both of Peony Road, Langport, are accused of his murder.

Speaking at their trial, Miss McGinty said: "He was just disgusting. I was scared. He was texting everyone, my mum, my dad, my brother's girlfriend. He used to make out he was s***ging my mum, he was s***ging my brother's girlfriend. It was sick.

"Paul terrorised my family. He just wouldn't leave them alone. He was constantly doing over their cars and threatening to get them on their way to work. I was worried about my family."

Referring to a 2011 attack on Michael McGinty, during which Mr Retallick broke his ribs, Miss McGinty said her dad "wasn't the same person anymore".

She added: "He lost all confidence, it ruined him."

Both defendants deny murder. The trial continues.
