THE last class to graduate from Nailsea School before it moves to its new buildings next month have performed well.

Six Year 13 students achieved at least three A grades at A-level and one fifth of all exams taken resulted in As and 62 per cent were at least a C.

Headteacher David New said: "This means that we achieved more than twice as many A grades as we might have expected compared to expectations from prior attainment.

"We are delighted that the hard work and effort of both students and staff have been rewarded in this way.

"It confirms the good grading that our recent Ofsted report gave to the standard of teaching in the sixth form.

"It is very satisfying that the last cohort of students to take their exams in the 'old school' have done so well."

Head of sixth form Jon Reddiford said: "So far all of our students have achieved their desired places at university, as far as we are aware"

"In the current national climate this is an outstanding achievement."

Year 12 students also achieved very well and so the school says prospects for excellent A-level results in the first year in the new school building are looking good.
