Nurse proved a dedicated carer
Brenda Ann Wickham, who died on August 28, was born in Glastonbury in 1953 and grew up there with her three brothers, Andrew, Alan and Stephen, and mother Mollie.
In 1969 she trained as a cadet in psychiatric nursing at Mendip Hospital and later held the post as a staff nurse. Just before Mendip Hospital closed down she moved her work to Littlecourt in Berrow, helping to run a day assessment centre.
Brenda met Alan while working at Mendip Hospital. They were married in 1972 and enjoyed 41 years of happy married life together.
They had three children, Mark, Arron and Kara, and were blessed with seven grandchildren whom Brenda doted on – Caleb, Layla, Lewis, Joshua, Evie, Elodie and Harley. As well as nursing, Brenda was a member of the St John Ambulance, training in Glastonbury and later serving in Wells as divisional nursing officer.
