YEOVIL Town's assistant manager has told players recent results must form part of their learning curve for the season.

The Glovers have won once this campaign, suffering a 4-0 demolition at Notts County in npower League One on Saturday.

However, manager Terry Skiverton's right-hand man Nathan Jones said the squad have to put that behind them as they prepare for the weekend visit of Tranmere Rovers.

He said: "It is all a learning curve. You learn these kind of things, and they set you in good stead.

"We conceded bad goals at bad times, and then gave ourselves an uphill task. They (County) played well on the day.

"That is the best they have played this year. Taking nothing away from them they played well and fully deserved their victory. We will learn."

Jones added that the start to the campaign will make Yeovil's young players stronger for the future.

At Meadow Lane, former Arsenal teenager and defensive midfielder Luke Ayling played on the right wing, while Gunners' loanee Luke Freeman partnered defender Adam Virgo in attack.

"The two Lukes will learn from every experience they get," said Jones. "Results matter here. At Arsenal it was about performances and development until you get to the first team.

"When you get to the first team results are the be all and end all, but they do play with the aplomb there. Here, it is just about real results.

"When we have young players in we do know that sometimes you take the gamble, but they will learn, and they will be better players.

"By the time they go back go their parent clubs people like Luke Freeman and Cameron Stewart (Manchester United) will be better players."
