Tonight's North Petherton Carnival has been cancelled.

With roads in the area already congested by traffic diverted off the closed M5 motorway, it was felt moving the carts from Bridgwater to North Petherton would make the situation even worse.

Police have warned of hold-ups on the A38 this afternoon as carnival traffic heads to Burnham-on-Sea via Highbridge.
