Nominate buildings for design award
Nominations for the best of this year's building design and build quality are being sought by Bath and North East Somerset Council.
The authority's Building Control Awards, sponsored by Bath Stone Group, are now in their 13th year.
Established to celebrate the best of design and build quality in the area, the awards are divided into categories ranging from small extensions up to large commercial projects.
The council's surveyors inspect construction work from a quality point of view but residents, architects and designers are welcome to give their nominations for the design quality category.

Councillor Tim Ball (Lib Dem, Twerton), cabinet member for homes and planning, said: "B&NES wants to hear about extensions, complete houses and commercial buildings that people feel are worthy of an award – due to the materials used, the suitability for purpose, or any special reason.
"Due to the special nature of the area we would also like nominations in relation to work on listed buildings. These awards are aimed to recognise first-rate design and construction and to help to continue and encourage the tradition of the high quality of the district's buildings."
Elaine Marson, chairwoman of Bath Stone Group, said: "We are once again proud to be supporting these prestigious awards, and to see high quality in building design and construction being encouraged and rewarded."
Awards are presented in two categories – building quality and design quality – for domestic extensions, new dwellings, commercial/public buildings and works to historic/listed buildings.
To make a nomination contact Philip Mansfield, building control manager, on 01225 477541 or email phil_mansfield @bathnes.gov.uk. The closing date is November 1.
The awards are judged by an independent panel of architects and the ceremony will be held at Bath's Guildhall next February.
