New swans ring bell for food at Bishop's Palace in Wells

Two new residents of the moat at the Bishop’s Palace, Wells, have learned an old trick in double-quick time.

The moat has long been home to a pair of swans who stretch their necks to ring a bell by the gatehouse when they want to be fed.

When one disappeared last year there was sadness throughout the city.

But a new pair was brought in from Wales last week, and they have already learned to call for dinner.
