New heating system at Curry Rivel village hall ahead of event with 80s celebrity comedian Phil Cool
VOLUNTEERS have secured a new heating system at Curry Rivel village hall in a £9,000 project.
The Robert Sewers Hall is now host to the new system, a cooker and insulation after its committee managed to secure the funds to improve the community facility.

A large chuck of this came from a £4,500 grant from South Somerset District Council's community grant programme.
Patrick Palmer, chairman of the council's Area North committee, said: "The recent project at Curry Rivel village hall has helped rejuvenate the fortunes of the hall and has upgraded much needed facilities such as the heating system."

As part of the fundraising efforts the committee have set up a programme of Friday Night Live events.
Greg Phillips, chairman of the hall committee, said they had great success in an evening with comedian and folk singer Richard Digance in November last year.
And their next event will see a night of comedy with Phil Cool on April 26.
He will be performing a two hour stand up show, which consists of impressions, stories and music in his own unique style that he found television fame with in the 80s.
Tickets cost £12 and are available from the Curry Rivel Post Office or from Mr Phillips on 01458 251773.
