The snow, which swept Wales and the West Country early last Friday, caused the postponement of three trial events in Somerset and Devon on Sunday.

The Mendip Vale club’s Winterhead event at Churchill in Somerset was called off at mid-day on Saturday after the organisers were unable to get to the start area in a 4x4 vehicle.

“We will now run it in late February or early March,” said secretary Andrew Leahy.

The North Somerset club’s timed and observation event a few miles away at Charterhouse-on-Mendip was also off but they hope to stage the event this coming Sunday.

The West of England club’s South West Centre Championship Knill Cup trial at Ilsington on Dartmoor was another casualty. They had an entry of 160 solos and 13 sidecars and it will take place at a later date.

Another event off is the North Devon club’s long distance trial in the Barnstaple area next Sunday. It’s not the weather in this instance but tree disease in the forests of North Devon.
