Well done to the staff and management of Budgens in Cheddar for introducing a scheme to reduce the number of plastic bags in circulation.

Starting about a week ago, customers who shop there will be encouraged to take their own reusable bags for their shopping rather than being given plastic bags.

For each of their own bags that the customer uses, Budgens will donate 1p to charity. Budgens' staff are deciding which charity to support and it will be a local charity, so you will not only be helping the environment but also supporting a local charity.

If you are interested in local environmental issues, come and join a newly-formed group.
