New Stop Smoking team at Frome Health centre launched
THIS month sees the launch of a new Stop Smoking team at the Frome Health Centre.
Joining lead practice nurse Elaine Keene on the team are Derek Chapman and health assistant Emma Yeo.
Over the past ten years the NHS has helped more than 145,783 smokers quit and during that time Frome has been running a successful Stop Smoking service.
Those on the Stop Smoking team acknowledge that giving up smoking is never easy and very often requires professional help, encouragement and practical support.

Elaine said: "Emma, Derek and I are there to provide that exact professional support. Not many people realise that right here in their home town of Frome there exists a very full and comprehensive Stop Smoking service.
"We have a walk-in clinic every Tuesday. New patients arrive at 5.30pm and existing patients turn up at 6pm. No appointment is necessary."
However the team recognises that not everyone is going to be able to make the specialist clinics on Tuesday evenings. Further, there will also be some patients who may well feel more comfortable working away from group sessions.
Patients thinking of taking up the service will also be able to see Elaine, Derek or Emma or another member of the Stop Smoking Team on a one to one basis by appointment either at the Enos Way centre or alternatively at the Locks Hill Surgery. All sessions, whether individual or group are free.
