A new lifesaving ultrasound machine worth more than £35,000 has been donated to the Emergency Department Team at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, by the League of Friends.

It has already made a difference to the treatment of more than 30 patients.

Emergency medicine consultant Dr Alistair Billington said: “The Philips Sparq Ultrasound was only launched six weeks ago and Musgrove is the first acute service in the country to get one.

"The hi-tech scanner gives clear pictures that enable doctors to see problems such as internal bleeding very quickly."
