NHS campaigners celebrate Shepton Mallet Hospital beds recommendation
Campaigners have celebrated after NHS chiefs agreed to recommend that Shepton Mallet Hospital beds stay put.
At a public meeting organised in response to the proposed closure of stroke and general in-patient beds, GPs explained how Shepton Mallet will be affected by NHS reforms.
Seven of eight stroke beds and eight of the nine general beds have been used every day for the last two years.
The Somerset clinical commissioning group, which will manage an £680 million budget, will recommend beds are kept “for the time being”.
