Mr Nice to tell story of life as drug smuggler
NOTORIOUS drugs baron Howard Marks is set to entertain Weston- super-Mare audiences with his life story.
Mr Marks, a former drug smuggler, achieved notoriety as an international cannabis smuggler and at his peak was supposedly smuggling consignments of the drug as large as 30 tons, making at least £50,000 a shipment.
He was connected with groups as diverse as the CIA, MI6, the IRA and the Mafia and was eventually convicted by the American Drug Enforcement Administration and given a 25-year sentence but served only seven years.
Despite having had up to 43 different aliases, he became known to millions around the world by just one: Mr Nice.

Following his release from prison in 1995, Howard penned his life story in the autobiography, Mr Nice, which remains an international best seller in several languages and was the best-selling non-fiction book of 1997.
Now, on Saturday December 22, at 8pm he will tell his story in person at The Winter Gardens.
The show draws on a wealth of experience, ranging from growing up in South Wales, his time at Oxford University to incarceration at America's toughest federal penitentiary.
