Motoring spectacular drives up funding
THE Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance has been presented with a cheque for £1,500 after a spectacular motoring event.
The Yeo Vale Rotary Club recently presented the cheque to Nick Pearce, the service's fundraising co-ordinator.
The cash was raised at last summer's Automotive Spectacular, which was organised by the Rotary Club in conjunction with the Western Gazette.
More than 200 cars and motorcycles were put on show at the charity event in June, which also included visual aeroplane displays.
The spectacular included exhibitions from Yeovil Car Club, the Association of Healey Owners, Midget and Sprite Club, Southern Milestone Motor Club, Somerset and District Car Club, Saab Owners Club of Great Britain and Yeovil Freewheelers. All money raised was split between the air ambulance and other Rotary charities.
The Rotary Club's president Lindsay Wilson also presented Dr Geoff Sparrow, of the Macmillan unit at Yeovil Hospital, with a cheque for £750.
This money raised for Macmillan was in memory of former Rotary President Dr Tony Simmonds.
