Motor neurone charity walk fireworks
A WALK between two football clubs will end in fireworks at Combe St Nicholas later this month.
Becky Gage, 30, is organising a walk to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease Association on Saturday, October 26, and the determined fundraiser is encouraging people to join her on her 23-mile stomp.
The charity walk is being organised as part of Walk to D'feet MND.
The MND website outlines: "Walk to d'feet MND is our signature national fundraising event and a fantastic 'year-round' opportunity for individuals, branches and groups to raise awareness and much needed funds through sponsored walks"
Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system, which leads to weakness, wasting of muscles and an increasing loss of mobility in the limbs.
Becky, who lives in Combe St Nicholas, will begin her walk at 10am from Yeovil Town Football Club and finish at Combe St Nicholas Football Club at around 6pm, where an evening of fireworks and live music will follow.
Becky has raised money for the charity since 2004, totalling over £22,000 for a cause which she admits is very close to her heart.
She said: "My dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 1997 and lost his battle in 2007.
"Before Dad was diagnosed I had never even heard of it. Not much is known about MND, and at the moment there is no cure.
"I would like to say thanks to everyone who has supported me in any way since 2004 and again a huge thank you to Combe FC for their facilities."
