Police seize £20k of drugs in night raid
AN ALLEGED cannabis growing operation and drugs worth up to £20,000 have been seized by police in Wincanton.
Officers executed night-time searches of a garage, two flats and a car in the town on Friday.

SUCCESSFUL SEIZURE: Part of a haul of 19 cannabis plants and dried cannabis found by police during night-time raids in Wincanton.
Police say a total of 19 cannabis plants measuring around 3ft in height and a large amount of dried cannabis were seized from the sites – estimated to be worth up to £20,000.
Wincanton beat manager PC Andrew Brown said: "Although it is not a common occurrence to come across this number of cannabis plants in Wincanton, we are always on the lookout for drug-related activity.

The search warrant came as part of an ongoing police crackdown on drug-related crime called Operation Relentless.
More than 1,000 arrests have been made since September by officers across south Somerset and Mendip as part of the operation, which tackles theft, burglary, cases of drugs and firearms offences.
A day of action was held on Tuesday across the force – with 85 people arrested on suspicion of offences ranging from burglary, theft and handling stolen goods to possession of drugs with intent to supply.
More than 160 warrants were executed with almost 300 officers taking part in the Operation Relentless activity.
Superintendent Dave Hayler, who has been leading the operation on serious acquisitive crime, said: "Operation Relentless is all about keeping our communities safe and recent policing activity will see many people who are suspected of crimes brought to justice and potentially stopped from committing more offences.
"On Tuesday, we were out in our communities taking suspects into custody, seizing property we believe to be stolen, stopping drugs from getting on to our streets and talking to residents to show that we are here to make their communities safer."
Michael Paul Connolly, 56, of Balsam Fields, Wincanton, was arrested following Friday's raids and charged with the production of a controlled drug.
He has been bailed by police and is due to appear at South Somerset Magistrates Court in Yeovil on Monday, November 26.

“Cannabis isnt illegal because it gets people high. We know this because in Israel, they have bred a strain so low in THC it cannot get you stoned. Yet if i had this cannabis in the UK, or grew it myself, it would be an arrestable offence, maybe even jail...for plant matter so low in psycho-activity you dont feel a thing apart from the CBD which is non psychoactive but highly medicinal. Cannabis is medicine, and has been known as medicine for over 10,000 years, and only has recently been considered a street drug. Why do people support prohibition even though it causes more harm than it prevents? What does Theresa May have in common with drug dealers? They both support prohibition because it keeps them in the job.”
