The missing painting of Louise and Mark Smith's wedding and honeymoon destination – featured on the front page of the Journal – has been found.

The painting of Island Church, Lake Bled, Slovenia went astray when Louise's Mum and Step-Dad Jackie and John Stadden were on a shopping trip.

The couple from Evercreech had just returned from a wonderful week away with Louise and Mark for the young couple's wedding and honeymoon holiday with 70 other relatives and friends. The day after they returned home they popped into the Tesco store in Shepton Mallet to do some shopping. They took the treasured painting with them to find a nice frame for it. But when they returned home and unpacked all their bags they found to their dismay the painting in a brown envelope was missing.

The family were terribly upset and Louise, who lives in Crewkerne, appealed through the Journal for its safe return.

Last week (Tues, Aug 17) the painting was handed in to Shepton police station by a person who wishes to remain anonymous.

A grateful Louise said: "We would like to say a big thank you to whoever handed it in – my mum is just so pleased to have it back. And thank you to the Journal for helping us recover it. We are just so glad it's back."
