Midsomer Norton Methodists step out en route to raising funds for Romanian families
Four Methodist stalwarts put their best feet forward to start fundraising efforts to help build a new house for deprived families in Romania.
The walkers from the Methodist church in Midsomer Norton followed a 20-mile route and have so far raised £700.
The church is supporting the charity FAST UK, which supports work to eliminate poverty and deprivation in Brasov County.
The Rev Jill Flowers has just returned from Romania where she saw the work first hand.
One of the walkers Martin Dymond said: "She was appalled at the deprivation and plight of the Roma families, especially when she saw children's teeth marks on the wooden bed rails where they were so hungry."
The church is aiming to raise £4,000 which will build one new home.
The other walkers were Carol Price, Marilyn Weeks and Methodist minister Stephen Robinson.
The next fundraising event is a concert by the Wells Cathedral School Big Band taking place on Saturday, November 23, at 7.30pm.
