It's not easy, is it? In your mental image of Michael Eavis, it's bald head, big smile, beard and naked from the knees to the ankles, whether it's January or August.
His love affair with shorts is well documented - he even picked up an NME award resplendent in a jacket and black shirt, paired with denim shorts and white trainers. And last year he performed a turf-cutting ceremony for a new music hall at Wells Cathedral School at the end of November - once again, in shorts.
"I love shorts!" he declared, when I felt brave enough to broach the subject with him.
"They're comfy, and I don't get friction on my knees. I do a lot of cycling, and they're just much comfier than anything else, so that's why I started wearing them. But they're so comfortable that I just wear them all the time now."
And doesn't he feel the cold?
"No. Well, not in my legs, anyway," he said, looking down at his knees, as if it hadn't occurred to him they should probably be a bit parky.
"I just love shorts!" he said. "That's why I wear them. Aren't shorts great?"
