Messing about on the moat
BANK holiday Monday sees the return of the Wells Moat Boat Races. One of the biggest events in the Wells summer social calendar is back for its 12th year.
Starting at 11am, there will be a flotilla of homemade rafts racing on the moat while the park will play host to stalls with something of interest for everyone.
Musical entertainment will be on the bandstand with a brass band performing throughout the day.
In the palace fields, there will be pony and donkey rides and, at the end of the day, it is expected that up to 20 hot air balloons will lift off from the fields with a launch at 6pm.
