Mendip's shining stars honoured at prize night
Prize winners were joined by family and friends at a packed clubhouse for Mendip Golf Club's recent presentation evening.
Club captain Terry Russell and ladies' captain Elaine Kitchenham handed out the trophies, culminating in club champion George Morgan and ladies' champion Gill Brown receiving their prizes.

Managing secretary Jim Scott ended the evening by paying tribute to the Mendip course.
"Our well-drained course has held up well to the recent atrocious weather conditions, resulting in record green fees from visitors flooding in from the surrounding parkland courses," he said.

"Mendip takes some beating in the winter months. We never play off mats, very rarely have to resort to temporary greens and the so-called Mendip Mist is more a perception than reality."
At last week's AGM, club finance director Nigel Cheshire presented a good set of results for 2011-12 and said the future looks even better.
"The business plan is built around driving profits to be reinvested in improving facilities and attracting new younger members," he said.
"This strategy, based on normal business principles, will secure the long-term future of the club through the hard times to come.
"We are well on target to reach our six-figure profit for this year and a further 60 new members on top of the 100 recruited last year.
"By 2015, we will have invested a further £200,000 on improvements to the course and clubhouse. This will be achieved by maintaining our fees as the best value in the area and attracting newcomers through the quality of our course and new practice facilities.
"We will continue to use our members as our sales force rather than resorting to heavy discounting, which could be a recipe for disaster."
The presentation of Turkey Trot competition prizes takes place in the clubhouse on Saturday at 3.15pm.
