Mendip third in bowmaker
Mendip Golf Club trio Liz Rose, Dian Stanton and Trish Murphy picked up a third-place finish at the Somerset Ladies Senior Bowmaker.
They scored 40 points at the nine-hole event at the Isle of Wedmore, which preceded the Somerset Ladies AGM.

Meanwhile, club ladies' captain Elaine Kitchenham was joined by Carol Curtis and Patricia Rawlins to win the Open Bowmaker at Salisbury & South Wilts GC. A score of 77 points was enough for them to triumph on countback.
Scoring was good when the Mendip men's section played their rescheduled September Tankard competition.

Division 1 winner Peter Davies was also the lowest gross scorer with 70, making a nett 66. Richard Jeffery was beaten into second in the division on countback, with Martin Myers third on 68.
Leon Clay won Division 2 with nett 70, beating Peter French on countback, with Eric Jordan one shot back. Division 3 was won by Martyn Russell with nett 71, the same score as second- placed Stephen Arnold and two ahead of Martyn Andrews in third.
A quiz night is to take place at the club from 7.30pm on October 19, and anyone interested is advised to book a table soon.
The afternoon whist drives began last week and continues on Monday at 2.30pm.
