The B3151 Meare Road has been closed by Somerset County Council from the Northload Bridge roundabout in Glastonbury because of flooding and the danger of an earth bank collapsing onto the road.

It is closed to all traffic to the junction with Back River Drove, a distance of about a mile and a quarter.

A diversion suitable for heavy traffic between Glastonbury and Meare will be signposted.

The Environment Agency is assessing the problems on the road, however, it is not known when it is expected to be opened again.
