Maths prize scholarship for former Norton Hill student
Former Norton Hill student Alison Mander, of Midsomer Norton, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the Institute of Mathematics.
The scholarship is the result of a four-stage application process involving essay writing, completing problem-solving tests, taking part in a group discussion and an interview.
The award entitles her to a bursary while she studies for a postgraduate certificate in secondary education at Bath Spa University, membership of the institute, and access to its resources.
Alison, 21, graduated from Keele University in July with a 2:1 degree in maths.
She said: "I have always wanted to be a teacher. I was fortunate enough to have been taught mathematics by some inspirational people.
"It is now my aim is to follow their example by inspiring other young people to love the subject."
