Market gets go-ahead for Square return
A DATE for the moving of the Crewkerne weekly market has been set.
The green light for the Wednesday Street Market to return to Market Square was given at South Somerset District Council's Area West meeting last month.
A grant of £6,000 was also agreed to go towards the cost of new stalls, awnings and promotional materials.
Now, Crewkerne Town Council has revealed that the market will return to the spot, where it last operated in the 1990s, at the end of the month.

Jeanne Warner, town clerk, said: "The council is very pleased to report that it has received details from many new traders for our new Wednesday market, but we are still taking names because we are keen to provide a diverse range of products and create new businesses opportunities.
"Our first Wednesday market in its new location will be on Wednesday, October 30 which is half term week.
"There will be opening entertainment for all the family with Hallowe'en and carnival themes.
"The market traders will be encouraged to decorate their stalls in keeping with the theme too, so we are hopeful it will be a great day and a new beginning for our market."
Last week, the Western Gazette reported that Market Street and Church Street will be closed while the market is in operation.
This will not be the case, both roads will be open and the slip road on the west side of the town hall will be closed. Two-way traffic will continue as usual on the east side.
The Western Gazette is happy to make this correction.
