A pair of bands will be lining up at Tor Leisure on Friday, July 17, for a special gig organised by Midnight Mango.

The Cornish trio 3 Daft Monkeys and Glastonbury band Flipron will be taking the stage and doors open at 8pm, with the show being for those aged 16 and over.

The 3 Daft Monkeys combine rousing vocals, frenetic fiddling, rhythmical 12-string guitar, dancing bass and foot drum.

Whether it's Celtic, Balkan, gypsy, Latino, Cornish or other World Music, there are influences of all these types in evidence.

Far too diverse to be pigeonholed into one genre, and possessing a sound completely impossible to typecast into being a particular style, 3 Daft Monkeys traverse dance, dub, punk, reggae and traditional folk with ease, creating a blend of upbeat, danceable music which, despite all its influences, remains undeniably British.

Flipron released their third album, Gravity Calling, earlier in the year.

Frontman and songwriter Jesse Budd said: "Gravity Calling is a more focused, confident record.

"It's like a hot rod version of the Flipron sound, a sort of go-faster, spangly paint-job version with big fat tyres. Pimp My Flipron, basically."

Tickets are £10 in advance, or £12 on the door, and available in advance from Tor records in Glastonbury, West Quay Records, Bridgwater, or Martian Records, Taunton, or by calling 0871 2200260.
