Manager could target fresh faces as injuries hit Wincanton Town
WINCANTON Town are in the midst of an injury crisis according to boss Paul Down.
Seven first team players are currently missing for the Somerset outfit through injury, including potentially long-term layoffs for centre-backs Andy Holmes and Mike Taylor, and striker Andy Mitchell.
Wincanton called up several reserve team players to plug the gaps for Saturday's last gasp win over Dundry Athletic in the Somerset Senior Cup, in which Rich Leach found the winner in the 89th minute for last year's semi-finalists.
Although Down's make-fit side progressed, he admitted to being troubled by the club's predicament. He said: "It was another good cup tie which could have gone either way. It was nice to sneak it in the last minute after going out on penalties last week (to Hamworthy Recreation in the Magna Dorset Premier League Cup). We have got a massive injury list at the moment so with the side we had out it was a great result and I was encouraged by that.

"It looked like it was going to go to extra time again but fair play to the lads they got it done. If they keep playing like that it gives me a headache when other players come back.
"I think our injury list is the worst it has been in my time at the club and probably the worst I have known in my time as a manager. We have got to get some players back in or I will have to look at signing one or two."
ILMINSTER Town started their first of three successive Somerset County League Premier Division home games with a 2-1 victory over Watchet Town.
They travel to Street Reserves in the Premier Division/Division One Cup on Saturday.
