Man sentenced over benefit claim fraud
A Somerset man must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work after investigations revealed that he had fraudulently claimed £1,100 in housing benefit.
David Peck, 36, of Crowshute, Chard, was sentenced by South Somerset Magistrates after pleading guilty to claiming the money by giving false information about how much rent he was charged.
South Somerset District Council officers became suspicious after they found out he was actually living with his partner's parents.
Peck was ordered to pay £240 costs and must repay the full amount of overpaid benefit.
