Man makes threats to jump from M32 bridge
Police closed the M32 near Bristol in both directions yesterday to deal with a man threatening to jump from a bridge. Several other roads were shut as officers tried to get the man, who was sitting on the edge of the bridge on the other side of the safety railings, to move to safety. Police had been called to the M32 at about 1pm after calls from members of the public who had seen the 31-year-old man over the busy commuter route. Negotiators spoke to the man and shortly before 4pm he was brought to safety. Police thanked road users for their patience.
