A SON has been cleared of attacking his Burnham father with a baseball bat after the prosecution failed to offer evidence.

Lee Noad, 39, of Jaycroft Road, Burnham, was charged with wounding with intent his father hairdresser Peter, owner of Peter's Hair Stylists on Cross Street, in January.

Noad was set for a three-day Taunton Crown Court trial but a not guilty verdict was delivered on day one (August 25) after the prosecution failed to offer evidence.

Peter, of Mark, sustained a fractured skull, damage to a main artery and memory loss that was slowly returning from the attack, and returned to work more than three months afterwards.

He was treated at Weston General Hospital before a five-hour operation at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

He said: "My memory was bad just after the attack, I couldn't remember my partner's name but it's getting better every day.

"I feel lucky to be as well as I am."
