Fire engines were called to the M5 in Somerset last night after two vehicles caught on fire following a crash.

Two crews from Weston and one crew from Burnham attended the fire which happened at 21.40pm last night in the middle lane of the southbound carriageway between junctions 21 and 22.

One vehicle was said to be severely damaged by the fire and two people were treated at the scene by paramedics although the extent of their injuries was not known.

Witnesses to the crash said they were stuck in traffic for over an hour and delays continued into the night.
