Lorry brings Langport town centre to a standstill
POLICE urged motorists to avoid the main road through Langport this morning due to a broken down lorry blocking the road.
A spokesman said the 42-tonne articulated lorry had a problem with its tyre and, because of its size and the narrowness of Bow Street, traffic was struggling to get through.
Although the road was not actually closed the police spokesman said: "We were called just after 9am.
"It is causing a lot of traffic problems in a high traffic area.
"We are urging people to avoid travelling in that area and find an alternative route if possible."
Traffic returned to normal at lunchtime once the lorry had been recovered.
