Lord Hill set to visit Somerton to back train station campaign
A CAMPAIGN is being launched tomorrow to re-establish a railway station in Somerton.
Lord Jonathan Hill, leader of the House of Lords, is visiting the town to back the campaign that is being launched by councillors.
South Somerset District Councillor David Norris and Somerset County Councillor Dean Ruddle are hoping to get the old railway line in the town established to form a circular Somerset route with access to Taunton and Bristol.
They have joined forces with David Warburton, the Conservative candidate for the Somerton and Frome constituency in the 2015 general election.
They will be joined by Lord Hill at noon tomorrow to launch the campaign.
The group will also be taking part in a day of action from 10am on Saturday where they will be carrying out a survey in Somerton to find out how residents feel about the need for a station.
