Local dancer Lulu steps out with acclaimed ballet group
After last year's success, The State Ballet Academy of Belarus is back with a new and vibrant classical ballet, The Nutcracker – a family orientated production with the fairy tale element and some added glitz from the beautiful new costumes.
Amande Concerts present this favourite ballet at Frome's Memorial Theatre to perform The Nutcracker on Friday, November 8.
Tchaikovsky's classic ballet has for generations enchanted audiences with its spectacular performance of music and dance.
It is based on the story The Nutcracker and the King of Mice by E. T. A. Hoffman, which follows the adventures of a young girl, Marie.
Marie, who is given a nutcracker doll for Christmas, enters a dreamlike land of magic where she soon discovers her nutcracker prince and dances with beautiful snowflakes.
Both children and adults cannot help but be captivated by Marie's miraculous adventures.
There will be no surprise to any that this production will be of the most delicate, intimate and powerful kind.
This company is known for its attention to details and, more particularly, for its dramatisation in dance of the beauty that this ballet is known for.
A local ballet student has been chosen to take part in the Nutcracker.
Lulu Tucker, 15 from Holcombe, who is passionate about dance is thrilled at the opportunity to perform with State Ballet Academy of Belarus.
She said: "I started dance at the age of two and a half years old.
"I've always loved dancing but in the last two years it has become really important to me.
"I met Darcey Bussell, who came to our school, and found her so inspiring.
"Over the years I have danced in a few small shows and really loved being on stage. It would be a dream come true if I could be a dancer, I just love dance so much I can't imagine my life without it.
"I love ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz and street.
"When I'm not dancing I have lots to study as it is my GCSE year but I also like dressmaking and spending time with my friends."
The ballet is brought to life by 45 young artists.
With their hard work and experience, it will prove to be an unforgettable performance.
Their dedication to their dance will be admired by ballet lovers, while the simple story of the Nutcracker will captivate children.
The score will include many favourites such as the dance of the sugar plum fairy and many more.
All this will help to create a magical experience that families and ballet enthusiasts can enjoy in the run-up to Christmas.
