Alliance Homes scoped two top awards at Weston College's Excellence in Business Training awards last week, in recognition of the work the social enterprise is doing with young people.

The Employer of the Year award was given to Alliance Homes for their apprenticeship scheme and social enterprise work and the Construction Employer of the Year award was given for their trade apprenticeship scheme.

Alongside these two awards, one of Alliance Homes' apprentices, Abigail Nicholas, was highly commended within the Voluntary Sector Learner of the Year award.

The Excellence in Business Training awards acknowledges the partnerships between the college and businesses across North Somerset to deliver training provision and employment for young people.

Alliance Homes works closely with Weston College to provide apprenticeship places to local young people in a variety of departments - from repairs to admin to IT. Michael Williams, Business Enterprise Manager, says "We are really pleased to have our work with apprentices recognised but more importantly, the awards demonstrate the success of apprenticeship scheme across the region. It has become more important than ever to support young people who may be struggling to get employment. With the invaluable help of Weston College, our apprenticeship scheme is going from strength to strength and we have some really exciting plans in the pipeline that will help even more local people get the training and job opportunities they need."
