Litter picker clears motorway rubbish
A motorist outraged by the rubbish littering a motorway stopped his car and collected two bin bags full of junk. After travelling on the M5 at Bridgwater, Simon Owens, 50, returned to junction 23 and dodged the traffic to collect the rubbish. He left the bags at the roadside with a sign reading: "Please leave litter in car, thank you!". The cabinet maker said: "Our roadsides are absolutely disgraceful. Drivers just chuck whatever they're eating out of the window."

“Hi, Simon Owens here! Just to put the record straight. I didn't dodge any traffic. I picked the litter up safely. I also didn't leave the sign and rubbish there. I took it all home, recycled it and took it down our local tip! I was also not outraged(!). I expect to see litter everywhere. We have a litter problem in this country of ours. It's time to deal with it!”
