ROYALISTS and parliamentarians will commence battle on the seafront at Weston next month.

Sealed Knot will set up an authentic 17th Century camp and drill displays on the Beach Lawns on Saturday and Sunday, August 8-9, for visitors to experience first hand the trials of a nation at war with itself.

The event has been organised by North Somerset Council and is funded by Find Your Talent to educate and inform the public about this era.

Cllr Felicity Baker, North Somerset's executive member for tourism, said: "We welcome the Sealed Knot back to what promises to be an exciting weekend for both the society, local community and visitors alike."

On both days there will be a grand parade through the town finishing at the royal sands for the battle.

Thousand of members of Sealed Knot with their horses, cavalry, cannon, pikes and muskets will then storm the largest sand castle ever built, making it an opportunity not to miss.

The event is from 10.30-5pm on both days, with the major battles taking place between 1-5pm

Tickets cost £5, £3 for children under 16, and a family ticket for two adults and two children is £12.

Parking is available at Uphill and Royal Sands beach car parks and cost £3 for the whole day.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate or bought from the Tourist Information Centre on Beach Lawns, or from the ticket hotline on 01934 888 800.
