Leopards spark link to nursery
Children at a nursery are exchanging scrapbooks of pictures and drawings with youngsters in Africa.
The link between Little Star Nursery, Farrington Gurney, and the nursery in Kabale, Uganda, was sparked by Little Star's Scarlett, and her love of leopards and elephants.
The nursery was put in touch with a day care centre in Kabale, and they are now in regular touch with African youngsters living with the reality of civil war.
Nursery leader Kate Wilson said: "Our children are learning a lot from this exchange. This is one of the proudest things we have ever done.
"Being able to make links with children of another country and culture in this way, means not only that our children gain a real understanding and acceptance of children different to us, but also we can help the nurseries in Uganda, which still employ a very traditional style of education, realise the potential of learning through play."
