Lee Waddon named as new coach of Minehead Barbarians
Lee Waddon, who parted company with Taunton as director of rugby in February after five years in the job, has made a surprise return to the game – as Minehead Barbarians’ new coach.
His appointment was announced following talks between the Barbarians director of rugby Andy Stevens and Minehead officials.
Waddon, who left Taunton “by mutual agreement,” will officially start his new job when Minehead’s players report back for pre-season training on Tuesday week.
He replaces Ross Cox and Stuart Fox who have stepped down – both for business reasons. They took over last summer after Stevens became the club’s director of rugby.

“At first, we had no response in finding a coach to take over,” said Stevens. “But Lee wants to get back into rugby. This is a good opportunity for him to do so and it’s also good for Minehead.
“He is very enthusiastic and we hope this will rub off on the players.
“I certainly hope that we can finish in the top three in Somerset Premier this season.”
Waddon, who has just turned 42, added: “I am excited and rarin’ to go. I have had time to recharge my batteries and have spent more time with my family, which is good.”
Taunton’s former director of rugby is known to have been in talks with other clubs, including new South West One side Chard.
