Two Cheddar-based educators are joining forces to bring a full range of music education classes to the Cheddar Valley.

Gillian Corke and Adele Nothard are both experienced teachers in their own rights – Adele with a background in Early Years teaching and Gillian with instrumental tuition.

They met by chance on the internet and instantly knew they had to work together.

Gillian said: "We hit it off straight away, we have the same goals and outlook."

Both educators came to Kindermusik after the birth of their own children.

A difference for many families is that parents are an integral part of the lessons.

Adele said: "Kindermusik offers so much more to the family than just music lessons.

"In Kindermusik classes we are participating in activities which build upon the child's socio-emotional development and their future learning, respect their individuality and support their self-expression.

"We believe that the parent is the child's best educator and as such we guide families through the activities and then give them the information and resources they need to carry on their Kindermusik experience at home."

For some sessions parents stay for the whole time and as children get older they join in for the last 15 minutes of a session.

Free demonstration classes are taking place at Cheddar Baptist Church this Tuesday, from 2pm to 6pm and Thursday, November 1, from 10am to noon.

Classes offered will be for children from birth to 18 months, 18 months to three years, three to four-year-olds and five to seven-year-olds.
