Leading airman reveals his thoughts on war and prayer
Speaker at the final Open Minds event in 2012 will be Air Vice Marshal Michael Robinson.
He will be discussing Piloting and Prayer with some thoughts on Wars – Hot and Cold, Just and Unjust at Henton Hall on Monday.
He hasn't managed to shake off his Somerset roots since he left King's School Bruton, subsequently returning to do his MA in history after the war at the University of the West of England and he and his wife Dru are now settled in Wells.
Following a wartime Short University Course in 1945 at The Queens College, Oxford and then RAF College Cranwell, he was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in April 1948.

His first appointment was to No 45 Squadron in Ceylon, Malaya and Singapore.
He flew various marks of Canberra in Germany and was CO of 100 Squadron (Bomber Command), piloting the Victor Mk2 in the nuclear deterrent role from 1962-64.
During his career, he flew about 30 different types of aircraft – both piston and jet.
He retired in April 1982 having been Director General Organisation (RAF) at the Ministry of Defence from 1979.
During a year raising money for the Church Urban Fund within the Diocese of Winchester, he met Bishop Jim Thompson who, once the Robinsons had moved to England's smallest city, firstly persuaded Michael to organise a Festival in Celebration of Bishop Thomas Ken and then appointed him and Dru as Bishop's Examining Chaplains to interview those seeking ordination.
They were both involved in introducing lay members to Cathedral Chapters – a fairly revolutionary innovation.
