Leaders recover in fine style
Shepton Mallet Ladies 2nd 5 Winscombe 3rd 1
League leaders Shepton Mallet recovered from a slow start to maintain their charge for the Wessex Division 3 title with a five-star display against Winscombe.
The hosts started on the back foot, with Amy Knapman giving Winscombe the lead inside the opening few minutes following a quick attack down the wing, with Helen Sinclair's cross catching home defenders Ward, Squire, Frost and Thorner by surprise.
Hannah Hussey, Emma Whitehead, Gail Izzard and captain Gill Harvey created opportunities for further Winscombe goals but, after a quick regroup, Shepton bagged an equaliser through Bolton when Winscombe failed to clear their lines.

Shepton were soon able to find their form and gain a firm footing in the visitors' half, with Fry, Fry, Legg, Clements and Keene creating chances for Burt, Legg and Bolton.
The first couple of a series of penalty corners did not prove fruitful but the third and fourth gave Squire two goals, despite the best efforts of Sarah Kempster, Joanna Hann and Amy Cheeseman in defence and keeper Roxy Newman.
Winscombe continued to push forward through Ella Byrne, Amy Izzard and Emma Whitehead as the home side also conceded penalty corners but Squire, Thorner, Fry and Frost protected well keeper Ward well.
Shepton were able to play their normal game in the second half and Burt was quickly able to add a fourth goal.
Bolton then doubled her tally, using her pace to outwit the Winscombe back-line, to bring the scoring to a close.
Players of the match: Bev Squire (Shepton) and Amy Izzard (Winscombe).
