Lawrence lets loose
Cranmore 2nds 287-4 beat Glastonbury 4ths 130-6 by 157 runs
In the last league game of the season, visitors Cranmore were just too good for an under-strength Glastonbury side.
The core of Cranmore's massive total was a magnificent 167 from opener Sid Lawrence. Although he gave a couple of chances, Lawrence batted with effortless ease, hitting 18 fours and running his partners ragged.
Anthony Pang (10), Mike Pang (11), Terry Stone (17) and Shane Clark (4no) also contributed for Cranmore, but the pick of the other batsmen was Dale Martin (41no), who shared a stand of 130 with Lawrence for the third wicket.
It was heavy going in the field for Glastonbury with little reward, although J Whittle (1-79), W Mason (1-9), J Tuck (1-38) and P Hunter (1-26) picked up wickets.
Although the Glastonbury batsmen never really looked like scoring the formidable 288 they needed for victory, they did prove stubbornly difficult to shift.
B Chislet (16), J Lukins (33), Mason (19no) and M Fudge (16no) got decent scores, in spite of some hostile bowling. Pace and bounce from Mike Pang (3-12) netted him three wickets, Anthony Pang (2-37) lured two down the pitch to be stumped by Josh Keen and Luke Vaughn (1-25) also claimed a scalp.
However, determined resistance from Glastonbury prevented Cranmore from claiming full bowling points, the innings closing on 130-6.
