Kylie drops in at Somerset pub
A COUNTRY pub in Somerset provided the stage for a very special gig when pop stars including Kylie Minogue dropped in to perform last week.
The superstar played a set in the Ring O' Bells in Compton Martin, as part of a line-up that included Tinie Tempah, Eliza Doolittle and Morning Parade.
Last Thursday's secret gig was a treat for employees from music company Parlophone, arranged by boss Miles Leonard who lives in the village.
Kylie arrived on her tour bus at 4.30pm and rehearsed for half an hour before performing on the pub's tiny PA system. She sang an acoustic version of her latest single All the Lovers, as well as I Should Be So Lucky and Locomotion. Afterwards, both she and Tinie stayed on to sample local ales.
Landlady Lauren Goddard said: "It was an amazing night. It was very surreal but everyone had a great time.
"It is incredible to think that a pub in a small village hosted something like this – not much goes on here. We'll never forget it."
Lauren explained that Parlophone approached her and husband Reuben about the gig seven months ago. The couple were sworn to secrecy and couldn't even tell family or staff.
"My brother was very cross when he found out because he loves Kylie. But it would only have taken one person to let the secret out so we had to keep it to ourselves until the last minute," she said.
